Our Story

We set up shop back in 1983 as a family business and have been frying fish and chips ever since. The Fisherman's is owned by Margaret and Peter Nolan, and is currently managed by their sons Christopher and Jonathan Nolan.

Local Ingredients

Wherever we can, we source our products both sustainably and locally. We think think it's very important to support local business.

We have been buying our potatoes from Gwyn Morris and Son for over 30 years. We purchase our fresh salmon from Mermaid Seafood. We buy our bread rolls from Conwy Bakery and we even use the local vegetable shop to buy the lemons that garnish your fish.

We only serve fish caught and then frozen at sea from the sustainable fishing grounds off Iceland and the Barents Sea. These stocks of cod and haddock are strictly conserved.

We buy our cod and haddock from VA Whitley and Smales, who both hold Marine Stewardship Council (MSC) certifications.

Frozen-at-sea fish guarantees the best flavour, locking in the fresh taste at the source for you to enjoy at the Fisherman's.

Our Chips are prepared daily (peeled and chipped) from fresh 100% British potatoes (often Maris Pipers, but only the best available in season when not available). Our suppliers identify the farm where they are grown.

We are members of the National Federation of Fish Friers (NFFF) so you know you receiving a quality product.

We also make a conscious effort to be environmentally aware and we've been pro actively separating and recycling our waste for several years. We offer bio-degradable packaging to our customers if they prefer to use it.

We recycle our used oil legally and responsibly using the VA Whitley waste edible oil service.
